“Everyone should dress like a hero” - fashion designer Katharine Hamnett

Have you ever drawn clothes that you would like towear? If you have, then you already know something about the work of the fashion designer. The initial drawings of the fashion designer are transalted into patterns and then made up into finished garments.
Some designers work at the exclusive, glamourous end of the design business creating fantastically expensive haute couture outfits for the reach and famous. Others design small quantities of ready-to-wear ‘designer label’ clothes. These are less expensive than haute-couture clothes, but the emphasis is still on the quality of the cut and the choice of fabric. Designers also create ready-to-wear clothes in standard sizes for the mass market. They use cheaper materials so that large numbers of garments cand be produced at affordable prices.
Fashion designers have to know how clothes and accessories are made and wich materials suit the different styles and seasons. They also need to be in tune with the latest trends and influences. It can be exciting, but it requires stamina to cope with the pressures of continous deadlines and long working hours.
It’s because the work of designers, the feeling that clothes gives and the respect for us and for the others that we should dress like a hero
