Ms Anik to oversee JCPenney brand marketing strategy

Ruby Anik will be the vice president and director of brand marketing for J. C. Penney Company and will play an important role in making the company ans her brands more know on the market.

J. C. Penney Company Inc announced that Ruby Anik will join the Company as senior vice president and director of brand marketing, effective Nov. 26. In her new position, Ms. Anik will oversee the development and execution of the Company's brand marketing strategy, clearly articulating the retailer's offering of style, quality at smart prices, and ensure the consistent execution of the JCPenney brand in all messaging.

Ms. Anik comes to JCPenney from Best Buy, where she served most recently as senior vice president, marketing communications and business operations. She will report to Mike Boylson, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, and join the Company's Executive Board.

Ms. Anik brings over 25 years of extensive corporate and agency marketing experience. In her previous role, she directed all marketing communications disciplines for the Best Buy enterprise including brand public relations, internal communications, and event marketing as well as advertising strategy, advertising spending, and creative development and execution throughout North America. She also led Best Buy's in-house agency, Best Buy Advertising (BBA).

Ms. Anik joined Best Buy in 2000 as vice president of media and assumed full advertising responsibilities in 2002."Ruby is a nationally-recognized, award-winning marketing professional," said Ken Hicks, president and chief merchandising officer. Before joining Best Buy, Ms. Anik served as director of advertising and media for The Pillsbury Company, where she had strategic control over the media budget and responsibility for all media research, strategy, planning and execution for three years. From 1991 to 1997, she served as associate media director and rose to senior partner, group media director at Euro RSCG Tatham, where she handled media research, planning and buying for numerous retail brands. Prior to that, Ms. Anik spent seven years at Young & Rubicam Advertising where she also held roles of increasing responsibility. Ms. Anik began her career with NW Ayer in 1981 after receiving a bachelor degree and masters diploma from the University of Mumbai (formerly the University of Bombay).
